Synopsis:

Reese Carter is definitely not your average college girl. She’d prefer to spend Saturday nights playing Hero’s Crusade than attending a wild frat party on campus. When she bands together with Adam, fellow comic enthusiast and illustrator, it appears that Reese has formed a dream team sure to propel her writing into the comic hall of fame.

Adam Hayes has never met a girl like Reese. She’s sassy, smart, and loves talking comics, although he can’t see why she’d choose DC over Marvel. He’s thrilled to finally put his artistic chops to use in their upcoming comic project. But. this relationship is strictly professional. Or so he tells himself. When the two combine forces, they churn out magic in more ways than they had planned; they never expected to develop a steamy romantic sub-plot of their own…

My Take:

Reese Carter and Adam Hayes are huge comic fans. Their interactions are limited to arguments over comics in Adam’s mom’s shop where Adam works and Reese is a regular customer.

They don’t agree with some of the other’s choices in comics and that’s what makes their conversations fun. 😛

Once Reese sees Adam work with his drawings and decides to approach him to illustrate for her comic books. At first Adam hesitates but then gives in because working with Reese will give him  the work experience and will look good on his CV when he heads out to find a job. Having credentials for a book published, most probably won’t hurt.

They both are attracted to each other. Reese wants to explore that feeling but Adam feels uncomfortable because of their racial differences. This story shows how Adam overcomes his fear, of going through the things his parents went through being an interracial couple, and accepts his love for Reese.

Reese’s characters tell Adam much more about Reese than she lets on. When he confronts her, she is surprised and pleased that Adam caught on her fears from the story she wrote. They both help each other overcome their respective fears. That’s one of the most intimate things in a relationship, being comfortable with stripping away all the fears. After this they were destined to be together. 😉

Why would I pick it up?

Love is a strong feeling that can’t be put off by deciding to ignore it. One day or the other, if it is true, it will get you. Reading people shed their fears and accept their emotions is inspiring. 😀
