The Book Cover Guessing Challenge!

This is a damn interesting challenge! πŸ˜€

It is called, as you can tell by the title, Book Cover Guessing Challenge. So for this challenge what you do is you pick a few books (typically well known) that you know little or nothing about and guess what they are about, based on the cover and title. Then, you compare it with the actual blurb on Goodreads and see how you fare.

I was tagged by TashaΒ @ Head in the clouds, heart in the books, she is so sweet, go check her blog out! ❀ πŸ˜€

I’ve no idea what books I am going to choose for this. To keep it fun I decided I will write about 1 book and then select another and I will also state why I chose that particular book. This is going to take more time but I sure won’t be regretting it. πŸ˜›

Let’s get started…

Oh boy… what book to choose? Umm… *scratches head* *buries head in the pillow* *Starts dozing off* *wakes up with a jerk* *Decides checking Goodreads*

  1. Another Day by David Levithan.

Why I chose this book:

I went on the explore tab on Goodreads and thought about which genre would be easier to guess and picked out romance and well, I think I have read this title quite a few times and the author’s name sounded familiar due to all the review titles I see.

My take:

This cover gives me a feeling of a girl who is being let down in life by every possible thing but she hangs on to the hope of tomorrow, or in this case another day, being better. This might be the story of hope for all I can tell with the cover.

Goodreads:

So, This is a sequel to another book… hmm… Well, I think what I thought can be the in depth analysis on the book. πŸ˜› (Because I don’t want to be wrong. πŸ˜› )

She has a shitty love life and has no hope, then one day something happens which gives her kind of some hope and she wants another day like that. (How you see things to suit yourself! πŸ˜› )

p.s. I picked this book under the Romance genre but still had romance nowhere in the guess. How stupid of me. πŸ˜›

2. Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan.

Why I chose this book:

I read the name of the book in the blurb of the Another Day and was aware of this book so well, that’s it.

My take:

The first cover gives me no clue whatsoever, the second one feels like a detective novel but knowing John Green and reviewing the cover of a book by David Levithan, I don’t think that’s probably the case. :/
The third cover is a bit more expressive though. What does this cover suggest? I think, it is about a guy who kind of has a split personality or a more subtle thing as he hides his real self in order to be acceptable by the society but then something happens that proves that the hidden Will Grayson is way cooler. Another feel I get from this cover is the cool and the anger, I don’t know. I think the color of the two heads on the cover give me that feels but then again it points towards two sides to a person somehow.

Goodreads-

What the hell! I am no were close to reality. :/ Instead of Will Grayson being a person with two sides, they are two different people whose lives are entangled by fate. Read the blurb on GoodreadsΒ here

3. Gone with the wind by Margaret Mitchell

Why I chose this book:

I googled famous books and chose the first title I saw that I have heard a lot about.

My take:

So, I think the girl is going with the flow, (from the third cover) you know like accepting what the life has to offer or like going on an adventure and… well, on second thoughts I think she left without a trace and the one who she left behind thinks she went with the wind. (That someone’s idea came from the cover that I think has the movie cover, which shows a guy and a girl. πŸ˜› Will that be considered as cheating? I don’t think so because I am pretty sure I am wrong. Let’s check. I didn’t include that cover because well that’s a movie.)

Goodreads:

I am so bad at guessing. :/ This story revolves around love and war.

Read about itΒ here

4. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews

Why I chose this book:

I thought of checking out my reader to see what all reviews were out there, while I was checking the titles I remembered some book which had something like earl and the dying girl in it and coincidentally when I scrolled down I found the title.

My take:

Hmm, that’s a really pretty cover. So, this can be about two best friends who love the same girl and fall apart for her and come back together to make her dreams come true when they find out that the girl is dying or it could be about the protagonist and earl helping a dying girl, whom they somehow cross paths with. ( I hope this is some what close, please… please… please. )

Goodreads:

Well, my second guess is somewhat right. (Ohh, thank God! Now I don’t look like a complete fool. πŸ˜› ) The protagonist, Greg, and Earl cross paths with Rachel who is diagnosed with leukemia and they decide to film her which becomes the turning point in their life. Umm… interesting…

p.s. The earlier three books had an angle of romance and I didn’t guess it and when I guessed it why is there no romance?

5. The unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

Why I chose this book:

My Goodreads page directed me to a list and I found this book there and having heard about it a lot, I thought selecting this as the last book for the challenge might be a good idea.

My take:

The picture of the entangled bodies got me thinking, is this romance? and then I read the praise by Cassandra Claire on the book, so it really is romance. The name kind of suggests like a dystopian story. The girl, I think goes through a major transformation and that is when she meets the boy who helps her and they fall in love while she also has to fight some kind of a battle.

Goodreads:

Lol, kill me! I am totally wrong. You will find me under my blanket right now. There goes all my beliefs of me being smart. πŸ˜›

Well, Mara Dyer loses her memory in an accident and there is a mystery to it and also she falls in love. ( I hope she falls in love with the person who is helping her unravel the mystery, so that I can be right somewhere. πŸ˜› )

This is it for the tag. I think 5 books are enough with my great guessing power. I don’t want you all to think that I am an idiot. πŸ˜› ( My teddy says I am not. ❀ )

I tag:

I know I have tagged a lot many people but this tag is so much fun and I wanted to tag everyone but then the tag list would have been too long.

The Bedtime Book Tag!

It has been a long time since I was tagged to do THE BEDTIME BOOK TAG by RavenΒ @Dreamy Addictions. I read her post and I was sure this wasn’t going to be easy for me. I don’t like to categorize my books, I am actually bad at it, deciding which book made me feel what particular emotion is a difficult job for me because there are so many emotions to a book that I can’t tone it down to one. I am bad at differentiating.

Yet I typed out half the post and let it sit, thinking I would get around doing it soon but then just kept pushing it. :/ Then, Rosema @A Reading WriterΒ tagged me again for this tag. Reminding me that I had to do it. But I still didn’t.

Yesterday, Maryan @1booklifeΒ tagged me for this tag and then I decided this was it, no more reasons and no more putting it off. I told Maryan that I was going to do it yesterday but went to sleep.

Thank youΒ Matt @ Matt and his catsΒ for tagging me again and reminding me how much this particular tag made me think. πŸ˜›

I am hopeless! :/ I am so sorry for being a lazy bum. πŸ˜› Thank you so much, you three lovely ladies, for tagging me though! πŸ™‚ πŸ˜€ ❀ I will try my best to answer these questions. (I know I am too bad at it but it is supposed to be for fun, right? πŸ˜› )

1.Β A Book That Kept You Up All Night Reading

There are many, many, many books because well, I mostly don’t put down my books easily. So, I will select the most recent one, that is Deception Point by Dan Brown. (This is actually the last book I have read this month because then college happened and I haven’t got time for reading since then. πŸ˜₯ πŸ˜₯ )

2. AΒ Book That Made You Scared To Sleep

To be honest, there’s no such book because I haven’t ventured into the paranormal genre yet and then too I doubt I would ever be scared to go to sleep because of a story. I am the kind who laughs during horror movies. πŸ™‚ πŸ˜›

3. A Book That Made You Go To Sleep

I will select the most recent book for this too. It is The other side of midnight by Sidney Sheldon. It was less because of the book and more because of me being tired I guess but I surely wasn’t eager on completing it either.

4.Β A Book That Left You Tossing and Turning All Night in Anticipation of its Release

Umm… I have never exactly tracked the dates down for any of the book’s release. But there’s only one book I was waiting for. Not because of the book, there was no news about the book actually. It is Bellman and Black. The only reason for my eagerness being the book is written by the author of my favorite novel, The Thirteenth Tale, Diane Setterfield.

I didn’t come to know about the book when it was released because it was released almost after 7 years from the first book by the author. I haven’t read it yet because of the reviews but I think the reviews are unfair, everyone is comparing the book to the first book by the author. You can’t judge a book based on another. Every book has its own flavor!

5. A Book That Has Your Dream Boyfriend

I don’t have a dream boyfriend but for the fun of this question, I will select few of the books that according to me have pretty decent guys. πŸ˜‰

6. A Book That Would Be Your Worst Nightmare to Live In

The diary of a young girl Anne Frank.

The Diary of a Young Girl

7. A Book That Reminds You of Nighttime

This is a book that I read 5 years ago. My first science fiction: Breakfast with the ones you love by Eliot Fintushel.Β

Breakfast with the Ones You Love

And also one of my recent read: These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner.

8. A Book That Had a Nightmarish Cliffhanger

I am not that into series, I mostly read series when I have the whole series so that I am not left hanging but I guess I will go with Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard.

red queen

9. A Book That You Actually Dreamed About

None, to be honest. :/

10. A Book Monster that You Would Not Want to Find Under Your Bed

Umm… more than monsters I am afraid of people. I wouldn’t want any of the backstabbers and double-crossers, from all the books that I’ve read, anywhere near me.

Many people have already done this tag, so it was difficult to search people to be tagged but yet I checked out a few blogs to see if they have done it or not. If you have already done it then I am sorry I may probably not be so good at researching. πŸ˜›

Passing Days | Rant on schedules !

What I have always heard is if you write your goals down then you are more likely to succeed but in my case my written goals do nothing more than to make me feel more useless. πŸ˜₯

I am not the schedule following person. If I decide something and then fail to do it, it doesn’t make me as mad as seeing my list and getting a physical reminder of my failure. Like seriously, why bother writing down stuff and despise yourself when you are completely aware of your mind-boggling abilities of following a damned schedule!

But still, give me a plain paper and a pen and some time to pass ( which is my whole life πŸ˜› ) I will write my dreams down. No matter that they are nothing more than a way of making me feel like shit, no matter in the future I will hate myself for not having achieved what I thought I could, no matter I am wasting my precious time, I VERY WELL AM GOING TO PEN THAT THING DOWN ! Come on, why give the right of making you feel like crap to others when you can do the job very well yourself. πŸ˜‰

With passing days and finding notes from the past I really think I should stop wasting paper and save the Mother Nature ! πŸ˜› I could go on and on on my disability to follow a schedule but I have a very important task of preparing a schedule for this month. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ Hope I will follow it. (No, I will not! πŸ˜› )
