August Wrap-up & September TBR

As you all already know I, too excitedly, participated in the August Bingo Book-a-thon. I knew this month was going to be too damn busy because my college started this month and the timing is hell. It consumes almost my whole day. 10 to 5:30? Why? πŸ˜₯ plus the hours of travelling. Arghh! :/

Even as I was participating in the book-a-thon I knew that reading even 5 books was going to be a task. Following the book-a-thon I completed 2 books and started my 3rd that’s when college happened and my novels were replaced by my engineering books. Check out my Bingo updates to know about them.Β Book 1Β &Β Book 2

So, as a result no reading was done in mid-August. By the end on August, there were many ARC’s close to their publishing dates. I felt bad for the books so I bunked a few days and caught up on my reading.

Here are the books I read in August-Β

As part of my Bingo read-a-thon:

  1. The Little Prince by Β * 5/5 *
  2. Deception Point by Dan Brown * 5/5 *

ARCs: I did review for these too. πŸ˜‰

3.Β Tear Drop by Joanne ClancyΒ * 4/5 *
4.Β Next Stop: Love by Miranda J. FoxΒ * 3/5 *
5. Know Your Enemy by Tasman Anderson (Review Pending) Β * 5/5 *

Although I didn’t complete my book-a-thon, I followed my rough goal of 5 books. That’s something to cheer about. πŸ˜‰ Β I know it isn’t anywhere near the number of books I read in a month but hey! the 2 books were read on 1st and 2nd August and the other three books were read from 25th August. Not bad, huh?

I also started another book, Uneasy in new Orleans (of which, I have done a review of) but I completed it on 1st September so I won’t include it in August’s wrap-up. πŸ™‚

September is going to be busier than August as I have my exams this month and the number of assignments is unbelievably horrific. πŸ˜›

Still, I want to squeeze in reading as much as I can because of all the ARC’s that are set to release in September. I don’t want to be unfair to these books. As we are already 5 days into September and today’s the 6th day. I have already read a few books. One of the aforementioned bunks was on Friday, due to which I read 2 novels and 2 short stories till Saturday morning and then wasted my Saturday trying different themes for my blog. πŸ˜› Today is Sunday and I wish to finish this novel because the review is due in 2 days.

Here are the books I have already read this month-

  1. Uneasy in New Orleans by Carol CarsonΒ * 2/5 *
  2. Untouchable Things by Tara GuhaΒ * 4/5 *
  3. Inconceivable by Cherrie Mack * 4/5 * (Review Pending)
  4. Ino’s Love by Marianne Sciucco * 4/5 * (Review Pending, Short Story)
  5. Welcome to Foxyland: Great Adventures of Little Foxycat by Wald Peterson * 4/5 * (Review Pending, Short Story)

Books I plan to read because I have to review them before they come out-

  1. Never the Same by Bess Richards ( Currently Reading )
  2. Higgs & Soap: Galaxy Delivery by Tony Cooper
  3. Yonder (A Southern Haunting #1) by LeeAnne Hansen
  4. Tarnished Gold (Cantor Gold Crime #2) by Ann Aptaker
  5. White Horse in Winter by Franci McMahon
  6. Pane and Suffering (A Webb’s Glass Shop Mystery #1) by Cheryl Hollon
  7. The Wilson Deception by David O. Stewart
  8. Scrapbook of the Dead (A Cumberland Creek Mystery #5) by Mollie Cox Bryan
  9. Die Again Tomorrow by Kira Peikoff

In total, I plan on reading 14 books in total and reviewing them. πŸ˜€

All the books are linked to their Goodreads page, if you wish to check them out. πŸ˜€

I desperately want to complete this list as I don’t like breaking my commitments and when you have an ARC it’s like a commitment.

Anyways, what do you guys think about my crazy schedule?

Book 2 | August Bingo Book-a-thon!

IMG_20150728_144203Let me grab my mug first, please. Okay so let’s follow my ritual… cover the mug with one hand… shake the mug violently… throw the chits on the floor… close the eyes… breathe… feel the chits… pick one up… unfold it… open your eyes and read after letting out the breath that you have been holding of course!

The second book I got is… drumrolls please… Deception point by Dan Brown. πŸ˜€ Β

Β I haven’t read a Dan Brown yet so this book made it on my list and I actually wasn’t hoping for it but if not for this I wouldn’t have probably picked it up even by the end of the year. (I sometimes possess the quality of shamelessness. πŸ˜› I should have read it, list or no list, right? )

Let me cross out the block first. πŸ˜›

There, done! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜‰

To my dismay, I didn’t read after completing The Little Prince on August 1st and then yesterday, august 2nd was also not utilized completely, I ended up reading only 100 pages. :/ But that’s okay, this is my 2nd book for this month and the month has just started so I won’t be hard on myself. πŸ˜› πŸ˜€

What are you guys reading and has any of you participated in this book-a-thon?Β

August Bingo Book-a-thon!

I have never taken part in any of the book-a-thon or read-a-thon. This book-a-thon caught my interest. This month is going to be darn chaotic because of the college formalities. I won’t be getting much reading time. Reading even 5 books is going to be a big deal this month but still I decided to give this book-a-thon a try. Nothing to lose! πŸ˜›

So, this book-a-thon is calledΒ August Bingo Book-a-thon πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ and it is hosted by the lovelyΒ awayinneverlandΒ  ❀ ❀

Rules are pretty simple:Β

  1. Make or print out a blank bingo board.

  2. Pick 24 books (25 if you don’t want a free space) and randomly fill those books in on the board

  3. Write the titles on small pieces of paper and put them in a jar/bowl.

  4. Read the books as you draw the chits and try to get a bingo!Β

As soon as I saw this book-a-thon, I grabbed my sketch pens, ruler and a sheet. πŸ˜› Too excited! To be honest… πŸ˜›

My book-a-thon picture! ❀

Here’s my Bingo board! ❀

Bingo Board!

  • I numbered my Bingo board so that I could write numbers on my chits rather than the book titles. πŸ˜› πŸ˜› Β
  • I filled in 25 books because I didn’t want to leave a free space.
  • I sat back thinking of all the books I wanted to read, there were too many!
As this is going to be a hectic month I decided on selecting the books with least number of pages from my ever building tbr pile. (I am Smart, duh! πŸ˜› )

Next, I made the chits. It was pretty fun actually. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Finally folded them all and put them in my blue mug. πŸ˜€ (Just for the record, it’s my favorite mug! ❀ )

I am all set for the Bingo read-a-thon! Oh boy! This is going to be fun! (I have a tendency of using lots of exclamation marks when excited! πŸ˜› )

If you guys are joining this book-a-thon then surely let me know. πŸ™‚

2 Days for 2 Books!

Okay, so I again didn’t complete yesterday’s goal yesterday but no issues I am already done with it and will start with today’s read, that is The other side of midnight by Sidney Sheldon.

I could have completed Rage of Angels yesterday but when I was 250 pages through the book, my brother insisted on watching The exorcism of Emily Rose, so we watched and ate chocolate. πŸ˜› Then at 4 pm I decided to take a nap and woke up around 8 pm and started reading again. Around 10:30 I was sleepy again, my eyelids kept closing and I had to struggle keeping them open.

I made a deal with myself that I will go to sleep once I reach 400 pages so that it will leave me with only 100 pages behind schedule.

Β At 11 pm I accidentally poked my eye while trying to rub sleep out of my eyes, well that worked in driving my sleep away and I read peacefully for about half an hour. It was 11:30 and I was on page 402 when I decided, although I wasn’t sleepy anymore, that I should go to bed and so I did.

Today I got through with the 100 pages left and now still have the whole day left for today’s read.

I will try not to distract myself with movies and stuff and finish reading it today itself because if I let it go slow then I won’t be able to complete my goal because you never know what tomorrow might bring and I already have one book left to read tomorrow. I don’t want to take any chances.

That’s some tight reading schedule I have there! πŸ˜› πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜›Β

3 Days for 3 Books!

I failed! πŸ˜₯ :/ πŸ˜₯

Yesterday, I was supposed to complete reading A Stranger in the Mirror by Sidney Sheldon. I say yesterday because it is already 2 hours into today. How this happened, you ask?

I wasted my morning watching cake decorating videos and the whole night before that too. Why did I do that? I DON”T KNOW! I DON”T EVEN BAKE! Β The only time I baked a cake was three years ago for christmas, THAT’S IT! (Although, I must admit all my friends loved it and still mention it. That’s a proud moment for me! πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€ )

I read through the day and then around 6 pm decided that a bath would feel good and then heaven knows what struck me, I decided to get under the sheets for a few minutes with towel still wrapped on my head and started reading. I was too damn comfortable and you can guess what happened… I FELL ASLEEP!Β

I woke up just now, with towel still perfectly wrapped around my head, that is around 1:45 am and as soon as I saw the time I realized I didn’t accomplish my goal and needed to rant and post too. So here I am, killing two birds with a stone! πŸ˜‰

I need to calm down now and start reading so that I can finish reading the book, that I was supposed to, before dawn and then I will start today’s book. I haven’t decided yet which of 3 remaining books will I be reading today but that’s for later.

I hope you guys don’t do this… if you do… Well, then, welcome aboard! πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

4 days for 4 books!

So, I am done with my today’s quota…. and 50 or so pages from tomorrow’s book too. πŸ˜›

I read Are you afraid of the dark? by Sidney Sheldon and read some pages ofΒ A Stranger in the mirror, which, hopefully I will be done with, tomorrow.

Not exactly, I don’t dance. πŸ˜›

So, 4 days left from tomorrow to complete myΒ July to-be-read listΒ and 4 books left. Yesterday I decided to readΒ one book each dayΒ to accomplish my goal and I am very happy that I have started following it because as you already know, I am not a fan ofΒ plans.

I could have read more of the book that I was supposed to read tomorrow, actually today because it is already past 12, but I wasted time watching lame videos. Sometimes, I miss theΒ days without internetΒ and sometimes I don’t. πŸ˜‰

I shouldn’t let my excitement on completing today’s goal get the better of me because I still have 4 days to follow this plan. Let’s see how it goes. I really hope to stay focused. πŸ˜› (That’s one of the things I am bad at. πŸ˜› )
