Let’s get on with the review, shall we? 🙂
Title: Larry saves the Prairie
Author: Matt Bergles
Genre: Children’s Fiction
Publishing date: 1st September , 2015
Published by: Mary Dissonance Press
My Rating: 3/5 stars
Through the voices of Annabelle and Angus, discover what almost happened to wildlife on the Kansas prairie. When Larry receives a letter that says he must destroy the prairie dogs on his land, he and some of his neighbors join together to make certain that all wildlife remain unharmed. Not only were black-tailed prairie dogs at risk of destruction but the already-endangered black-footed ferrets were at risk of becoming extinct.
In Larry Saves the Prairie, with the help of Annabelle and Angus, you’ll discover what it means to be a true hero, and most especially, what it took to save prairie wildlife in Kansas.
Annabelle and Angus are prairie dogs that share Larry’s story. This is good way to teach children the meaning of standing up for what is right, what a real hero is and importance of every living thing on our environment.
The illustrations are really very good. I loved how colourful it was. ❤
What I had a little problem with was the repetitiveness. Children might like it. For the children who are still learning to read it might be a great way to get them imagine the passage that they read. After every passage written in a cute, colourful background, there is an illustration for the same thing. According to me, this is a great way to help children with imagining the things they read and get them interested in reading. 😀
All in all, this is a good book for children for how it’s made and the important lessons donned out in fun. 🙂
Why would I pick it up?
All the illustrations! ❤
